The light-well is a pain.
I stick a bright yellow bowl of light in the melee and no one notices it, or clicks it to see what happens before the fight has began….. and considering I watched someone eat 10 charges of my lightwell last night when I had placed it for attempts at Warmaster Blackhorn only to see it disappear before pull, made me VERY MAD. * Shakes fist repeatedly*
No one takes it seriously. People rarely click on it and I seem to be one of the few common people through several logs of who actually uses the thing. I click on it so it’s a little heal on myself for when I am worrying about everyone elses heath bars.
Am I really a bad holy priest if I ‘forget’ to place it down.
Maybe if we changed the color people would click it more. Add Flashing lights or a disco ball maybe.
I have been in LFR’s where someone has glyphed the lightwell so it has 15 charges, and they have a macro that THANKS the person who click on it.
“Thankyou for using my lightwell.. thankyou for using my lightwell…”
I’m pretty sure if I tried that in Raid I would get blocked/reported for spam or told to turn it off very quickly, but it served a constant reminder of it’s existence, and people clicked on it.
My current approach is to drop a Lightwell on the first trash pull of an instance and explain what it is in a slightly tongue in cheek manner (me sarcastic? Nooooooooonnonono), then drop it at the star of each boss with a macro that announces its existence. I then proceed to spam another macro which yells to "click the Lightwell not to die" at points in the encounter where DPS not being thick would be desirable. Generally this has a reasonable effect, especially when combined with my relentless mocking should we wipe and the Lightwells still up. I've only once had someone take my word literally and click the Lightwell "not to die" BEFORE the pull!!?! "But you said I had to click it else I would die" I'm still not sure whether this guy was a comedy genius, or a cretin, I'll leave it to you to decide.
We have a habit of not taking as much personal responsibility for your own health, Some classes have their own heals, boosts, and wouldn’t rely on the lightwell or a health stone, or arguably they would say they don’t need it. As a healer I look first to using a heal on myself before I use something like a lightwell, health stone or a health pot, however there are things available to us to use to boost our own survivability. Click the lightwell. Eat your lock rock ect ect..
I can use Health stones as another example of things that people don’t use as much as they should. I now understand the pain of the Warlocks suffering, not that they don't deserve it, but for years they've been dishing out health stones, only to see them go wasted as the party wipes with the boss on 1% health, again. We're even further disadvantage in that players can't simply sling it on the cast bar and click it, they have to actively search for it on the floor, make sure they're in range, and then click.
Whats your thoughts??

Happy Birthday to me!
Well its my Birthday today and I was greeted byan in game mail from mel fracis :) (I do like those).
My Mr's had bought me the Heart of Aspects mount and boy do I love it!
Our newly formed guild "Ordo Hydra" is taking shape well and we had gotten the backbone of a decent raiding team in place. Our cshiny new vent server is up and working and things have been all a bit exciting with some more of my IRL friends joining me and now at the stage of gearing up in heroics.
We wanted to keep ordo hydra a fairly small guild of casual/mature player that can have a laugh and get bosses down at the same time. Is this an unrealistic target?
In recruiting a wee bit we took on a few "friends of friends" and all seemed well for a few days and the achievements for our newly formed guild had been flooding in. Then in guild chat one of our new recruits posted a rather cheeky racist comment using a macros. I just ignored it the once and then when his audience was a bit larger he did it again.... This time I had a word. The upshot of it is that it resulted in about 10 mins of argueing in Guild chat and we are now a good tank and a good healer down (honouring their friend). As he left he posted the message aagain and left. (Saved me kicking his @ss).
In my book, its one thing to have a laugh but not at the potential expense of others. This has made me have a good think overnight and while i feel bad for our good guildee's in that they have lost a couple of useful raid members, we have also got rid of the idiot.
Just shows that even trying to keep a small guild of largely IRL friends can cause issues in itself. I still dont want to have a mass recruitment inviting anyone and everyone but perhaps a new faces are required.
Guild recruitment open! :)

Alliance vs Horde?
A lot of people have huge preferences when it comes to what faction they play on. They will only play on one particular faction, they have many reasons for it, and those who play on the other faction are “nooblets”.
…so it’s okay to like them both, right?
Cause that would be me. I really have no preference. I like various aspects of each faction and I would very happily play either. What faction I choose to play on a particular server mostly has to do with what faction my friends/guild are.
Going a little more in depth though, here are some things that I’ve noticed: (note: these are all my personal observances and they are probably different for you!)
Races: I’d like to start by saying that I actually like all the races in the game. Some people out there have races they love to hate (gnomes and the elves come to mind), but I like them all. However, in general, I find the horde races to be more interesting. If I had to pick my three favorite races in the game it would probably be… Tauren, Troll, Night Elf, in that order. Two horde races up top. I really love everything about the Tauren– their lore, their starting area, their philosophy, their physical “look”, and their special move Warstomp. Trolls are a close second, I can’t tell you exactly why I find them so intriguing, but I do… they’re just fun! Night Elves I like mostly because I am enamored with their lore and backstory. I like playing them too, but… when it comes down to it I’d rather play a Tauren or Troll. Yet look at my characters, humans and dwarves... hmm
So, when it comes down to what races I like best… horde wins.
Locations: There are a lot of really unique locations in the game and I like many of them. However, I am going to admit right here and now that I am madly in love with Stormwind. Best place in the game. I love the layout and the way it looks, I love all the big statues out in front, I love the sweeping choral music that plays. I also love Goldshire, if you can get past all the… kids that hang out there. Hehe. You know what else I love? Darnassus. I didn’t used to be a big Darnassus fan, because I found it to be confusing to navigate, but it’s really grown on me recently. It’s way out of the way but I go there sometimes just for the heck of it.
Horde has some great locations too. Thunder Bluff and Mulgore come to mind– I really find Thunder Bluff to be unique and memorable and I’d call it my “home city” hordeside. And I love the lore of the Undercity, even though the city itself isn’t really my style.
But in the end Alliance is the clear winner for me in this category. They get Stormwind, Darnassus, Ironforge, the ridiculously cute Goldshire and a lot of memorable places in general in the Eastern Kingdoms. As much as I love Thunder Bluff, in the end Durotar/Orgrimmar is just too blindingly orange for me, the Undercity/Tirisfal is a little too spooky, and Silvermoon, while gorgeous, ends up being rather dull. Alliance wins!
(That said, I have to admit, I harbor a severe phobia of Exodar. I once wandered around there for about a half hour trying to find the exit. I shudder just thinking about it and I pretty much refuse to go there.)
Maturity Level/People: Hehe, this is probably the one some of you have been waiting for. A big argument I hear a lot is that “I play [insert faction here] because the players are so much more mature than the other side”. Well… I think it probably depends on what server you’re on and what type of server you’re on because that’s really the only difference that I’ve noticed. I’ve seen a bit more of the testosterone aspect on PvP servers (both factions) and a bit more introspection and “artsyness” on RP servers (both factions) but the difference isn’t particularly huge. (I’m afraid I haven’t spent enough time on a normal PvE server or an RP-PvP server to share my thoughts on those yet.) People have been rude to me on both factions and people have been nice to me on both factions and in the end I really think it comes down to the individual people on each individual server, rather than faction. Horde/Alliance tie.
Final Score: Horde – 1 1/2, Alliance – 1 1/2. I like them both equally well, they both have their strong points and weak points and I am more than willing to play either. I might revisit this at a later date with some more categories and such, but until then… Lizts out!
Bwah ha ha ha - New blog
So instead of constantly boring my friends with the random things that happened to me on World of WarCraft, I’ve decided to start posting them here.
I guess a couple notes to start out with will be an adequate first post:
1.) The title… “Looking for Mair”… refers to two things. Firstly it refers to the “Looking for More” tool in the game. I have been in and out of a few semi ardcore raiding guilds over the years, but always end up in a small guild mostly made of of IRL friends. Theres never very many of us and often to complete any raids or challenges we end up in the Dungeon queue.... this is where time seems to dissappear.. So yes, ’tis a nod to that.
2.) I’m a bit of a nooblet. I didn’t start playing WoW until late 2007. So I’m not as chock-full of wisdom and experience as most other WoW-bloggers you’ll find. But that’s okay. This blog is mostly sort of a personal journal for WoW-things, rather than a commentary or teaching tool. However if you manage to find this journal to be a satisfactory commentary or teaching tool, that’s great too!
3.) Finally… if you have somehow stumbled across this blog and choose to read it for some reason… keep in mind that, as I said in point #2, this isn’t really supposed to be an in-depth commentary on World of WarCraft or anything… mostly it’s a personal journal chronicling my adventures in Azeroth which is open for anybody to read if they’re curious. I’m a casual as opposed to hardcore WarCrafter and having fun and exploring the game world is far more important to me than having the awesome gear. Its something I try and fit in around the rest of real life. Full time work – and hobbies that include wargaming, photography and this blog.
My (new) main is Lizt a Level 85 Human Holy Priest - Bronze Dragonflight
My active Alts are scattered around a bit
Guizerjarl 85 Dwarf Survival Hunter on Bronze Dragonflight
Orff 85 Human Blood Death Knight on Bronze Dragonflight
Handel 82 Night Elf Prot Warrior ( not being played really)
Debussy 80 Human Rogue on Bronze Dragonflight
Mehndelsson 71 Human Paladin on Bronze Dragonflight
Pindar 61 Worgen Druid on Bronze Dragonflight
And a few not so active Mage, Warlock Guizerjarl was my main, and dont know whether i just got fed up DPSing or waiting for groups as a dps but think too much time was wasted in LFM, hence the change... Most of my achievements are on this toon so hopefully come patch 5.0 they will be transferred over to Lizt. After a bit of a break from the game, just as ulduar was released i think i burned myself out. Me and a few friends decided to get back on the hobby horse as it were and get back into the swing of things... more of what had changed and my findings to follow. But here i am with my nice new shiny recently dinged priest :)
So... 1 - 85 I love being Shadow.
We are rather self sufficient class – Heals Mana Damage. Stick us in plate and we would be running Azeroth.
I am a little disappointed at the lack of lore around Shadow Priests.
We don’t seem really welcome in the cathedrals – I think the trainers just suffer our existence and are getting bribed big time to do our training. I was a bit concerned about being a cloth wearer having come from a hunter, but heay, a mind blas and a mind flay and they never get to us ;)
Lvling the priest was quick and fun, power word shield is a lifesaver and I found the shadow class very dependable. However... this wasnt what i wanted... as soon as i hit 85 it was over to Holy... and the journey began!
